On behalf of the The Society of St. Vincent de Paul for the Diocese of Toledo, I would like to WELCOME YOU to our Brand New website launched March 2009. We are very excited about having this technology available to us.  Much like our founding fathers, we are challenged by the current day's events and means by which to get the needs of the poor met in a timely and appropriate manner.  Having the website will enable us to be more accessible to the poor, our donors & benefactors and to the 1000 Vincentians who serve the poor daily in the Diocese of Toledo.  Creating the website will promote intercommunication between our conferences, our thrift stores, food pantries, and kitchens.  For decades the Society has been humbly and tirelessly serving the poor in Northwest Ohio.  Part of serving the poor is advocating for the poor and bring the situations the poor find themselves in to the attention of the policy makers and funding managers.  Promoting the cause of the poor and advocating for resources to meet the needs of the poor can be carried out more effectively and efficiently in our world today through the use of the internet.  Please visit the 44 currently available pages, click on the links provided for additional information from another site or pdf file, use the website as you serve the poor.  Your comments and suggestions are welcomed and may be sent to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Our neighbors need our help, now more than ever. People are losing their jobs. Families are losing their homes. Children are going to bed hungry.  You can make a difference. Your donations create hope for those in need. Through your generous gifts of time, money and donated goods, we can help our neighbors, meeting basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, transportation and emotional support. Together, we can create a network of charity to embrace our community.  At the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we strive to manage the initial emergency, then shepherd individuals into programs, which can bring lasting change to their lives. All donations made locally are used and distributed throughout Northwest Ohio.

As Mother Teresa said, “The poor are hungry not only for food, they are hungry to be recognized as human beings. They are hungry for dignity and to be treated as we are treated. They are hungry for our love."

Our having the website was made possible through a Capacity Building Grant awarded by The Center for Nonprofit Resources, paticularly Megan Meyer and Kate Smith, whose experience with nonprofit agencies and creating grant possibilities made the evolution of this website a reality. We would also like to give a BIG THANKS to Deanna Carr, Molly Corfman, Jessica Miller, and Steve Timofeev of Business Voice for their endless assistance and tireless work designing and developing our site.

Great Food For All

Have you heard about Great Food For All?

At a time when costs are on the rise and families are wondering if they will be able to meet this month’s budget, there is hope! Great Food For All, a company with its national office in Newton Falls, Ohio is offering top quality food to anyone interested at a greatly discounted price.  There are no requirements to participate in the program.

The program operates primarily through local churches, while there are some other groups such as 4-H clubs and local Fire departments offering the service as well.

This is How It Works: Interested parties place and pre-pay for their food order at designated times at any of the program's Host Sites. Then, on a designated Saturday morning the food arrives at the Host Sites and the customers pick up their food order at the site where they ordered. The program offers several “Boxes” of food each month. The "Basic Food Box," which anchors the program, contains from $80 to $100 worth of food for a fixed price of only $30.

The “menu” for the box changes each month, and additional “Value Packs" such as Senior Meals, Breakfast Boxes, Kids Boxes, Grill Boxes and others, are available as well. The menu for these boxes also rotates. Host Sites accept Cash, Visa, MC, or Foods Stamps (EBT Card) for payment. The food comes to the Host Sites pre-boxed and frozen. Food pick-up is convenient and hassle-free.

Churches or other groups interested in providing the service to their communities may contact GFFA at (330) 872-0155.
